10 years ago, we set out on a journey to move back to Seattle from Oklahoma and plant a church, City On A Hill. The Lord brought some amazing people on board, and together, we have seen God do some amazing things. We have been grateful for the opportunity of a lifetime to be part of this team and a church that, alongside other great churches in the NW, has made a great impact on thousands of lives. This week though, marks a transition point for our family. After 10 years of planting, and starting new campuses, it is our time to step aside, and let others continue on the mission. As for our family, our mission is not done. We love the NW, and there are still hundreds of thousands of people in the NW who need Jesus. Our tomorrow is not clear, but it will certainly involve Jesus, family, new friends, the church, ministry, and joy. It’s hard to let go, but, after helping launch several campuses and pass them on, it quickly becomes evident that its never about us anyways. I apologize to those for whom at CityHill this is unexpected; it was not my intention and plan. Several weeks ago, I had no idea this is where we’d be; but when some decisions were made by our boards, we knew this was the time to let go. But trust me: the church is never built on one or two individuals, and Christ’s church will continue to thrive. If I caused any pain or hurt to anyone over the last 10 years at CityHill, please forgive me. When we were faced with fast growth and starting new campuses every 2-3 years, there were definitely opportunities for mistakes, broken promises and hurried decisions. I thank everyone who allowed me to develop, learn, make mistakes, and grow from experience; I was only 26 when we started. For now: Friends are friends forever. Our home is always open for prayer, worship, tears, laughter, and friends. Keep our family in prayer, as we start again, where we started before: just our family.When life takes a turn, pay attention to who shows up just to hang out. Grateful this man George Davidiuk flew in just to be together for a day. No agenda. Just food & coffee.I am an uncle for the 30th time. Congratulations Alex & @marykhochay ; Willow is beautiful.Excited to be with friends tonight for a soft launch of CityHill SpokaneToday, Honor’s teacher informed us that Honor was very disturbed about working on a Halloween project at school, and refused to participate in it. Though Honor’s favorite subject is art, she was not willing to work on this art project, and Honor’s teacher was proud & supportive that she was willing to let her thoughts be known. I know families have different views on Halloween. We aren’t against pumpkins (especially pumpkin muffins), corn mazes, and celebrating the coming of fall; but things associated with hunted houses, witches, and ghosts are things we don’t espouse (unless it’s the Holy Ghost).CityHill Youth Conference coming up this weekend! If you are anywhere close, join!This past week, we took our middle school students on Destination Unknown to a cemetery. Students had to notate ages of death of 10 individuals, and anything else interesting they would notice. What they found: - people died of all ages (infant to 104) - many family members were buried together - some have some very weird signs on their stones - a couple didn’t have a year of birth (unknown) - many had similar last names - there’s a 100% death rate of everyone born in the 1800s (in other words, we will all die). We learned some valuable lesson to cherish loved ones, live with purpose, and be ready to meet our creator any day.We are excited to have George Davidiuk at CityHill Northshore this Sunday. Its hard to put into words the impact he's had on thousands of people in the US, Ukraine & around the world. Join us 9:30 am in Kenmore. He's also a keynote speaker at MissionsFest Seattle 2019 this weekend. A great event to check out. Im also excited that we will be baptizing several individuals this Sunday who have come a long way. But GOD...!
I think your young people were in seattle spending time with the homeless about a month or so ago, I got there with my boyfriend, we were there to give a truck load of clothes away, it was a saturday. Are they going to be there again sometime in Dec. We have more to give and they were so helpful at organizing it. We would like to go when they are there.
